BBC Arabic has covered MAP’s participatory photography project with Palestinians with disabilities in Gaza. The report shows how our project is supporting people with disabilities to tell their own stories through photography, raising awareness locally and internationally of disability rights and the barriers to these rights in Gaza.

The report follows the journey of three photographers, as they document the daily challenges they face in Gaza. Abdelkareem photographs the inaccessibility of public transport for people in wheelchairs. Naji highlights the difficulties people with disabilities face to becoming an athlete, with a lack of adaptive devices and limited opportunities to travel outside Gaza. Seham documents the barriers she faces accessing the sea in her wheelchair. The three participants are among 15 individuals from MAP’s partner, the Nusirat Rehabilitation and Social Training Association, who are involved in the project. Their photos will be exhibited at events in Gaza and the UK in December to mark International Day for People with Disabilities.
