Rajasthan is set to vote on Saturday to elect representatives to the 200-member state Legislative Assembly. The Congress hopes to retain power, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aims to unseat the grand old party keeping up the state's tradition of rotating parties every five years.
During the high-pitched campaign, the Congress focused on highlighting the Ashok Gehlot government's progress card and welfare schemes, while the BJP targeted the ruling party with allegations of corruption, law and order issues in the state, and alleged infighting within the Congress.

As many as 41 workers have been trapped in a partially collapsed under-construction tunnel in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi since November 12. The rescue operation, which entered its final stage on Wednesday, is expected to be over by today. Ambulances and doctors have been deployed at the site to attend the workers as soon as they get out.

Ahead of the ceasefire, fighting continued at even greater than normal intensity, with Israeli jets hitting more than 300 targets and troops engaged in heavy fighting around Jabalia refugee camp north of Gaza City. An army spokesman said operations would continue until troops received the order to stop.
International alarm has focused on the fate of hospitals, especially in Gaza's northern half, where all medical facilities have ceased functioning with patients, staff and displaced people trapped inside.
